New Marienfelde
Development of a Mixed-Use Neighbourhood

A 10 ha large urban development field is planned to form the new “Smart-City” in Berlin’s Southern district of Marienfede. Surrounded by industrial sites, residential areas and a train line the site is suited to host a contemporary neighbourhood that overcomes the functional separation that has haunted the urban sphere since the 1920ies. Production, administration, different types of apartments and houses as well as diverse leisure zones are all densified and integrated and equipped with smart technology.
